HEAT DETECTOR: Essential Fire Safety Equipment

A heat detector is a vital fire safety device designed to respond to thermal energy rather than smoke. It monitors air temperature and triggers an alarm when ambient heat reaches a set threshold or increases rapidly.

Primary Types

  • Fixed Temperature: Activates when ambient temperature hits a predetermined limit (e.g., 57°C / 135°F).
  • Rate-of-Rise (RoR): Activates when temperature rises abnormally fast over a brief interval.

Best Applications

Unlike smoke alarms, heat detectors are unaffected by dust, steam, or fumes, making them ideal for:

  • Kitchens, boiler rooms, and laundries
  • Garages, workshops, and attics
  • Warehouses and industrial plants
